The Importance of a Pre-school Education.

School readiness is not a process, or grade that happens in the last year of a preschoolers life. It begins at birth and goes hand in hand with the normal developmental stages of a child. Provided the child has sufficient opportunity for a healthy development, a child should be school-ready by the time he/she reaches compulsory school-going age.
School readiness means that the child is ready to cope with the demands and activities expected of him/her in a formal schooling environment.
The important question a parent should continuously ask themselves: Is my child emotionally ready for formal school?

Age Groups are structured as follows:

The Infants (5 months to 18 Months)

We understand the importance of the developmental stages of an infant and we help our infants to develop naturally from one stage to another e.g. sitting to crawling to walking. Listening to Babbling to talking. Visual tracking to grasping and many more developmental milestones. We follow an age appropriate Early Years Programme as well as introduce our own programme devised from international standards and quality.

The Wanderers (18 months – 2 years old)

Our little wanderers see themselves as brave individuals who are striving for independence such as feeding themselves, toilet training. These children are introduced to basic, colours shapes and counting. They enjoy plenty of sensory stimulation and play which is led by an enthusiastic and caring teacher. We follow an age appropriate Early Childhood Development Programme (NELDS) as well as introduce our own programme devised from international standard and quality.

The Explorers (2 – 3 years old)

Our explorers are now experimenting with art and craft materials such as painting, cutting and “drawing” (fine motor skills) as well as playing with cars and trucks, kitchen corner, block play. Music and movement is very important to these little people. They are more mobile and enjoy riding bikes and playing on the jungle gyms and gross motor equipment. We follow an age appropriate ECD programme as well as introduce our own programme devised from international standard and quality.

The Discoverers  (3 – 4 Year Olds)

These discoveries are more active, lively, alert and eager for new experiences and knowledge. They have become more vocal and their general knowledge has expanded rapidly. These little discoverers are more sociable and enjoy participating in group activities and construction play and building large structures are important to them. The teacher nurturing these children are very aware of this stage of development and thus has a well-planned programme to meet their educational needs. We follow an age appropriate ECD programme as well as introduce our own programme devised from international standard and quality.

The Inventors (4 – 5 years old)

This is a rewarding age group to teach especially when the child has been at the school since infancy. This is when we are reaping the benefits of many year of hard work in nurturing, guiding and caring for your child. The teachers know your children very well and can offer exactly what he she needs to succeed. The Grade R’s are fully engaged in emergent reading and writing skills. They are taught the math processing skills, science and technology. These children are also taught life skills to help cope in formal schooling. They are able to express themselves by means of their art work, drawings and speech. Their eagerness to learn is phenomenal.
